Gritty Suns drop game to Warriors

By Francisco Romero

The Phoenix Suns gave the Golden State Warriors a run for their money Sunday night at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, but at the end of the game the Warriors finished ahead 133 – 120.

The Suns were ahead 114 – 109 with 5:48 to go in the 4th quarter, but then a three-pointer from Kevin Durant got the score closer to 114 – 112. Shaun Livingston made a tip shot with 5:05 to go in the fourth quarter to tie the game and the Warriors never looked back.

With the loss the Suns have a record of 3 – 8, while the Warriors improve to 8 – 2.

The Warriors had a balance attack on the offensive side; Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson finishes with 30 points each, while Kevin Durant added 29 points and 9 rebounds.

For the Suns Eric Bledsoe and TJ Warren scored 20 points a piece; Devin Booker finished the night with 19 point. The leading rebounder for the Suns was P.J. Tucker with 8, coming off the bench.

Golden State had a good offensive night from the field as they finished the game with 52 percent shooting with 16-for-33 from beyond the three-point arch; Curry and Thompson made five three-pointers each.

Jared Dudley came off the bench for the Suns and scored 14 points, but was not enough to beat the Warriors.

The Suns will now travel to Denver, Colorado to face the Nuggets at the Pepsi Center on Wednesday.

The Suns’ fate against the Warriors was similar to the defeat they suffered against the Brooklyn Nets as the game was very close in the fourth quarter, but Brooklyn was able to get away when the Nets had a 17-0 run at the end of the contest.

This was the ninth loss in-a-row for the Suns against the Warriors.

The Suns return home (Talking Stick Resort Arena) on November 25th after playing five games in-a-row on the road.
